In this context, we recognize that the power is in our word. What is that power? How does it exist within our word? Simply put, our word is the causation of our reality.
When we recognize that our reality is the sum of our beliefs, and the effects of our word. We are then ready to exercise our access to power. It is not that we are not always exercising our power, but with this recognition, we are able to consciously, and deliberately be at cause of our own lives. Here and only here are we free from the victim consciousness which builds the walls of limitation in which most choose to live. Not because it is a choice that benefits them, but simply because they have not yet recognized the simple truth that they live within the confines of their own belief.
Freedom and self expression exist when we recognize and live the concept that Ernest Holmes defined for us "Change your thinking, change your life".

TREATMENTS ARE FELT
By Rev. Jim Thompson
In treatment, all words must be specific. All words must be felt! Words spoken with specificity but without true feeling are simply words spoken. They have no meaning, thus they have no power. They are not known by the speaker as the truth. Words spoken with true feeling, the kind of feeling that expresses your faith in their trueness and rightness are the words of power that the Law recognizes clearly. These words are then acted upon and demonstrated because you have spoken them as the truth. Law can only express the truth, thus you have created the reality of your words.
The practitioner must know that the word he speaks is the Law of Mind operating for this person. Right action is action in the life of the person the practitioner is speaking for. It is the knowing that is the access to power.

AS YOU BELIEVE
By Rev. Jim Thompson
Emmett Fox tells us in Life is Consciousness that everything is consciousness. What this means is that in your thoughts, (your consciousness) you are constantly creating your experience of your own life.
When things don’t go the way we either expect want them to go, we often blame others. We make them responsible for the effects we are experiencing in our own lives. Such as - I am the way I am because of the way my mother treated me when I was a child. This blaming way of being denies the reality of our experiences being only exactly what we believe them to be. Not necessarily the way we would like our reality to be, but the way we believe it truly is.
Your consciousness is who you are being. It is who you choose to be.
Life is not happening to you, you are constantly choosing how you experience it. You do the choosing even when you choose not to choose and merely await the next experience to occur. After all, not choosing to choose is a choice in and of itself.
The only way to change your experience of what is, is to change your belief of what is. To follow Ernest Holmes mantra, "Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life". This is more than simply making an affirmation, it means to truly change your belief, and your very knowing of truth as it is to be. Or should I say as it is.
This power to change reality with your belief is the power granted to you by God as a co-creative spiritual being. This power makes your word Law in the universe. You exercise this power by merely speaking into Universal Creative Mind and the Law responds with the only answer that God ever give "YES".
So always be aware that "As you believe, so it is". I remember Rev. Sandy Freeman-Loomis once saying "Whether you believe you’re wrong, or you believe you’re right, you’re RIGHT".

AS YOU BELIEVE II
By Rev. Jim Thompson
Emmett Fox says "We all are interested supremely in one subject. One thing means more to us than all the other things in the world put together: our search for God and the understanding of God's nature. The aim of the metaphysical movement is to teach the practice of the presence of God".
In Mental Equivalent by Emmett Fox, the premise of "Change Your Thinking Change Your Life" is put forth. In order to have that which you desire, you must create a mental equivalent of your desire in your mind and rid yourself of any negative doubts as to the truth of it.
Emmett Fox states "So the key to life is to build the mental equivalents of what you want and to expunge the equivalents of what you do not want".
Sounds easy enough.
But how do we go about it? Emmett Fox says we do it by thinking, "Thinking has two qualities: clarity, or definiteness, and interest." The process of thinking gives us the focus we need to define our desire, and keeping our interest on the subject helps us to build that mental equivalent we need to affirm the truth of it.
This isn’t only about ideas, it is through this process that we are able to manifest into the physical world our wants and desires. The power of our affirmation is in our word, and in our belief. "You always demonstrate what you habitually have in your mind" says Emmett Fox. I think this means that your life as it is, is a result of your thinking. You are always getting exactly what you believe to be the truth of your reality. The natural laws of the universe provide exactly what you have asked for. By this I mean that what you truly believe to be the truth is what you experience, and it is not necessarily or even likely what you may have wanted.
"As thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee" (Matthew 8:13)

FAITH IS LAW
By Rev. Jim Thompson
"Faith is a Law and acts as such". Those words spoken in true faith into the law must manifest. True faith is both subjective and objective. It is not occasional or random in any way.
When the practitioner speaks with true faith, his words override the doubts of others and manifest through the law. This is because they are in and of themselves the truth and must therefore manifest as truth always does.
Those who live in their faith of the power for good in everything, have no doubts. They see circumstances for what they are, simply circumstances, not realities. Since they are not realities, they can be changed by the power of the clear words of the faithful spoken into the law.
Faith, then, is a doubtless knowledge that what is spoken is absolutely true.
Only when we allow doubt to enter into our belief system, are we left to struggle or suffer within the confines of our circumstances.

GOD IS UNIQUE TO US
By Rev. Jim Thompson
We are created as individualized expressions of God. We are created with the unique ability to recognize and to know God. Each of us experiences this in different ways, at different times, and in response to different experiences. The knowing of God is not an intellectual exercise; it is only truly an experiential one. We can rationalize the existence of God, but we cannot know it rationally.
Since we are each unique, we experience the recognition of God individually. We develop our relationships with God individually. While we may practice the celebration of the knowledge with others of similar beliefs, the knowing is extremely personal. In the personal relationship with God, we are centered in the One Mind. We are a part of the infinite whole that is God, and we know it.
Only here in the Knowing are we whole perfect and complete.
